Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies have accused a Kyiv judge of illicit enrichment and announced the completion of a separate investigation into suspected embezzlement at the state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia.
The judge is suspected of acquiring assets that significantly exceed declared income, in a case that highlights ongoing concerns about integrity within Ukraine’s judiciary. Anti-corruption officials said the investigation found evidence of unexplained wealth that could not be justified by the judge’s official salary.
Separately, investigators completed a probe into alleged embezzlement at Ukrzaliznytsia, the state-owned railway company that plays a critical role in Ukraine’s war logistics. The investigation focused on procurement fraud and the misappropriation of funds intended for railway infrastructure and operations.
The two cases reflect the breadth of Ukraine’s anti-corruption effort, which has targeted corruption across multiple state institutions including the judiciary, state enterprises, and law enforcement. Both cases are expected to proceed to trial as part of the broader push for accountability.
