Ukrainian Authorities Accuse Former Prime Minister of Parliamentary Bribery Scheme

Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities have searched the Kyiv offices of the Batkivshchyna party, led by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, as part of an investigation into alleged bribery of lawmakers in exchange for parliamentary votes.

The searches form part of a probe into allegations that the prominent opposition leader attempted to organize a systematic vote-buying operation within Ukraine’s parliament. Investigators allege the scheme involved regular payments to selected lawmakers in exchange for voting as directed, abstaining, or skipping sessions.

Tymoshenko, who served as prime minister from 2005 to 2010 and was a leading figure in the Orange Revolution, has denied the allegations, describing them as politically motivated. Her party has characterized the investigation as an attempt to silence opposition voices during wartime.

The case has been advancing through Ukraine’s anti-corruption court system, with bail set at approximately $800,000 following police searches earlier in the year. The investigation adds to a series of high-profile corruption cases that Ukrainian authorities have pursued against current and former officials amid ongoing war with Russia.
